Alicia over at Posie Gets Cozy has me completely hooked on cross-stitching. I just finished her Winterwoods sampler and my fingers are already itching to start another. Thankfully, she recently designed this sweet summer sampler, complete with red, ripe strawberries and a little bee hive!

This pattern is PDF only, not a kit, but luckily there is a tiny embroidery shop tucked away in a farm house nearby that sells the variegated floss used in the sampler. It would be nice to have a gallery wall of these pretty samplers in the knitting room, don’t you think?

The pattern is $6 and can be purchased in Alicia’s shop. Happy stitching!

Wishing I could be home, puttering about the house, working on little projects…

Today I woke up to 37 degrees of fall chilliness – and now that Halloween is over, Christmas is officially on the brain.   Since I’m in the holiday spirit, I’d thought I’d share these felt ornament kits from Alicia over at Posy Gets Cozy.  Above is the Snow Day set – her attention to detail is meticulous!  Look at the sweet little mittens hanging out from the Christmassy-red coat, and the cute little scarf on the polar bear…I love that she worked a little knitting in this year.

She is also re-releasing some of the sets from previous years, including the Ice Skating Afternoon set:

And the rustic Walk in the Woods set:

Each set is $25 and is limited-edition.  Buy them here while you still can!

I feel like there is so much I need to do knitting-wise before the end of the year:  I have to make my Mom’s shawl, birthday gifts for my sisters, a coffee sleeve for my hubby, hats for my son and three nieces.  Plus, I still have to finish my raglan sweater (one more sleeve to go!), my striped socks and the baby sweater and hat for my friend in NY.

Busy, busy, busy.  Next year, I should knit backwards – knit my summer items in the winter and my winter things in the summer…that way, I have everything ready to wear/give when the season comes along!

Have a great week! ~J

…that February is National Embroidery Month?  I didn’t, until I read Anne’s post over at The City Sage.  A while back, I bought a hoop and some colorful embroidery thread so that I could try my hand at it.  Actually, the only thing that I embroidered was this heart on the inside of my hubby’s favorite jeans.  (A sweet Valentine’s Day gesture, no?)

If you are looking for fresh, young embroidery patterns, you have to check out Sublime Stitching – their stuff is really modern and fun!

I know that Jaime is planning on making her hubby some boxers for Valentine’s Day…he loves bacon and steak, so these might be cute embroidered on the bottom of a pair or two:

{meaty treats - $5}

I’ve got my eyes on this sexy-librarian set, which, when embroidered onto strips of fabric, would make darling bookmarks for my library books:

{sexy librarians + secretaries, $5}

This set, stitched onto some dishtowels, would make a great birthday gift for my camping-loving  best friend, Bethie:

{camp out! - $5}

And this would be perfect stitched onto a canvas tote-bag, for knitting projects on-the-go:

How about you, readers?  Do you plan on doing any embroidery this month?  We’d love to hear what you’re up to!
