Since the only thing I’m doing this week is furiously knitting miles of gray garter-stitch, I thought I would show you what Jaime is working on right now.  Her little project is coming along so beautifully, and I know she can’t wait to show you what it is…

*Ravelympic Update!*

5 skeins to knit before my Montauk Throw is officially off the needles.  The long, middle section is completed, thank goodness, so now we’re in the home stretch.  Here is what’s left to go before I reach the finish line:
  • The decorative striping on the end
  • Adding the ribbed edging to both ends of the throw
  • Weaving in about 8,000 ends

I am totally going to do this.  Especially since my husband FORBIDS me to even talk about new projects until I finish this blanket.  Readers, I am SERIOUS.  The other night, I started to tell him about an idea I had for a new design and he literally shushed me (jokingly, of course!), and told me we weren’t going to even think about new projects until this one is complete.

I will assume he is doing this because he knows  how easily distracted I get…and if I start getting excited about something, I immediately want to cast on, and all other projects get thrown to the side.  You know how it goes.

Back to knitting!

{his sweet little baby foot}

{his sweet little baby foot}

Earlier this week, Jaime and I finally made it up to NY to see our brand new nephew, Jackson.  What a handsome boy he is!  And he is such a good baby – he only cried once the whole time we were there!  Jaime and I may have been a little jealous, as our combined four were monsters as infants.  We spent our time there snuggling him, feeding him and giving him lots of kisses.  Oh, and of course we played lots of dress up with all of his  knitwear!

We tried to let Kristen get as much sleep as she could while we were there, and every time she came out of her bedroom, we had the baby stripped and wearing something new.

Thankfully, he was a really good sport about everything.  He was so much fun to cuddle and coo over…

We were so sad to leave him, but luckily they will be coming down for a visit in a few weeks.  I might just have a little something new for him to wear…

Until then, we will miss you! ~Aunt Jenny and Aunt Jaime

{P.S. Thanks Krissy, for letting us throw him off his schedule…}

Baby T Collection

Please forgive the quality of these pics – they were taken from my iPhone at 2:30am on Saturday!  But I had to share before I’ve moved on to another project.  Baby T’s pending arrival caused a flurry of activity in the studio last week (Kristen’s baby shower was on Saturday afternoon).  After such great intentions to get all of the sewing done WAY before the shower date, of course these were finished up just hours before the shower began.  They were inspired by the burp cloths that Mom Jodie made for me when my little munchkins were on their way.  I used the fabric from the quilt I made for Baby T to embellish cloth diapers as burp cloths and some simple white onesies.

Baby T Collection - fall leaves

On some of the burp cloths I added fabric and ricrac.  On others, I free-hand machine embroidered leaves to match the fabric.  (that was my first time – and my favorite part!)

I will take some better pics in a couple of weeks when I head up to Long Island for the next baby shower!  Kristen was just too antsy to take them home with her after her Delaware shower – and I can’t blame her 🙂

More to come soon on the quilt!

Jaime and I went shopping for some fabric so that we could make a quilt for Baby T.  We found some sweet fabric with the cutest little critters on it:

It just seemed perfect for an October baby!  After wandering around our local Joann’s store, we found these beauties to compliment our forest friends:

Jaime has already started sketching out ideas in her notebook – here is a sneak peek at some of the design possibilities:

We still have so much we want to knit and sew for the baby – it just doesn’t seem like we will have enough time to get it all finished before her baby shower!  Jaime decided I needed to increase the size of the white knit blanket by 1/3, essentially adding on another 7,400 stitches.  I need to pick up the pace, especially still have the following to complete before the shower next month:

  • finish gray wrap sweater
  • knit gray hat and booties
  • knit white cardigan to go with blanket
  • knit booties to go with sweet-pea hat
  • knit the pumpkin hat and booties

Ok – off to look for invitations!   Our sister loves monkeys, so we are going to try to find some cute monkey graphics and make the invitations ourselves…as if we don’t have enough to do.
