The baking bug bit me yesterday, so I whipped up a batch of yummy buttermilk scones. They are so easy to make, and so very delicious when smeared thickly with butter and honey.Buttermilk, flour, baking soda, cream of tartar, sugar, butter, and shortening…I used an egg-shaped cookie cutter to cut the scones, then brushed the tops with a little egg wash before baking.  Today I may have some with homemade three-berry jam, a gift from my fantastic mother-in-law.This morning, I’ll be knitting the toe of the second hermione sock, so look for finished project pictures next week.  This weekend is supposed to be nice, so I am looking forward to getting out for some fresh air.  How about you, readers?  Any fun plans this weekend?

{p.s. Jill over at Knitterella just released her first pattern – The Smocked Slouch Hat.  It is totally cute – you should go check it out! Congratulations, Jill!}

One of my Ravelry friends, Cindy, recently decided for every knitted hat she sells, she will give away or donate a hat or a pattern to someone else.  It’s just the nicest gesture, don’t you think?  A couple of weeks ago, I was lucky enough to be the recipient of one of her generous donations, and received a copy of the Hearts for Haiti hat pattern.  How sweet!  I was totally inspired by her thoughtfulness and decided the right thing to do would be to pay her act of kindness forward.  Which leads me to these:

Jill, a fantastic knitter and blogger (you  may know her as Knitterella), also happens to be a very talented graphic designer.  She recently added some new note cards to her shop, and  I just fell in love with them – especially the last one, which pretty much sums up my life’s philosophy!  So in honor of Cindy’s generosity, I will be giving away a set of these amazing note cards.  The three cards are blank on the inside and come packaged in a clear hang pack with envelopes.

To enter the giveaway, just leave a comment on how you might pay it forward if you won this contest. Would you pass on a new skein of yarn to a fellow knitter?  Donate a set of needles to a budding knitter?  Knit someone some dishcloths?  It doesn’t have to be extravagant or expensive – get creative!

On Friday, I will use a random number generator to pick a winner!

Good Luck!

*We had a lot of you stop by, but I guess everyone was a bit too shy to enter!  Since there were no takers, I am going to purchase this lovely set and pass it on to one of my knitting friends…  Thanks for visiting!
