The yarn for Mom’s Flamboyan arrived on Friday and it immediately went on the needles. This is my first time knitting anything designed by the famous Stephen West, and now I see why his patterns are so adored – they are the perfect blend of cleverness and simplicity. My brain is not bored, nor is it stressing itself out either. Knit from the center of the neck down, so far the pattern has intarsia (clearly explained, so don’t let it scare you away!), garter, stockinette and a wee bit of lace in the form of yarn-overs. Eventually, ribbing will be added to the mix. The repeat was easy to memorize, so this will be a fun knit to pair with some holiday movies this week.
I am particularly smitten with the gray stockinette (Color B in the pattern) against the black garter (Color A) stitches…I’m thinking I might need to cast one of these on for myself, after the holiday knitting is finished, of course! Have a great week, knitters… ~J
