My sister just got back from a two-week visit to Eugene, Oregon – and as, always – adopted a few new skeins for my stash. Above, in the beautiful handmade bowl she bought me from the Saturday Market is a skein of Katydid from Classic Elite Yarns. It is part of their environmentally-friendly Verde Collection, and is 100% organic cotton ribbon yarn. I’ve never knit with ribbon before, so I am anxious to see how it works up.
She also scored a skein of Plymouth Yarn’s Baby Alpaca Grande Tweed in a scrumptious green colorway. It is a big, soft, chunky yarn that is begging to be worked up into a cozy cowl. The green is very olive, with subtle flecks of cream and brown:
Lastly, there are the three skeins of Fiddlestick’s Eco Knit yarn, also 100% organic cotton. The soothing colors are derived from the natural dyes in the plants, so they are completely Earth-friendly. Don’t they remind you of different shades of sand?
The addition of these new babies will make it even harder to decide what to cast on next. Currently, the Saroyan is finished, it just needs to be blocked. Perhaps I’ll finish up my baby sweater while deciding what comes next…
Have a great week! ~J
