This past weekend, I was browsing the crocheting project journals over at the Purl Bee, when I stumbled upon their tutorial for making a Granny Square. Tempted by both the prospect of starting a new project and learning a new technique, I immediately grabbed a ball of yarn and my 5.00mm crochet hook and got down to business.
After two hours of whining to Jaime in the studio and numerous unravels, I finally figured it out:
Don’t the stitches look like little pink and white meringues?
This is such a fun project, and the square grows so quickly. In fact, I am just going to keep adding rows until I have a nice little baby blanket. My cousin Anna is expecting a little girl in the fall, and this will be perfect for her.
I will definitely be making more of these blankets – it would be fun to make one of these in bright, cheerful colors. If you want to learn how to crochet a Granny Square, be sure to check out the project page at Purl Bee! They also have a very helpful section of crocheting basics here.
