One of the things that inspired me to try my hand in making toddler clothing was the Habitual blog. Not only has Amy written easy-to-read patterns, she generously posts them for free for those of us who would never attempt to write their own dress patterns! Her fabric choices are truly inspirational, and I must say that this particular dress was the catalyst for my toddler apparel obsession that I just can’t seem to shake as of late.
Tomorrow we have some friends coming over who have a beautiful new baby-girl named Margot. Considering how chic Margot’s name is, it was only natural to make such a chic little dress for her (size 6 months). It took no time at all – a little over 2 hours – to cut, pin and piece this dress together (almost as much time as it took me to decide on which fabric to use!). I hung it up in the kitchen before going to bed, and was promptly awoken by Meghan this morning who said “Mommy – there’s something just ADORABLE and BEAUTIFUL hanging in the kitchen!” Both she and Erin tried it on and it fit wonderfully as a shirt. I will need to make two more soon!
I will take some pics of Margot in it tomorrow!
Meanwhile – HAPPY BIRTHDAY SORELLA! (aka Jenny :-))
