This weekend was FULL of sewing. The Bernina was officially renamed by Erin – who called it Mommy’s Bernito. Bernito it is.
I started the sewing weekend off on Friday night by cutting two dresses (same style as the strawberry dress) in different fabrics for Erin and Meghan. Everything was cut and pinned before retiring to bed for the night (who cares that it was 1am? I cut and pinned TWO dresses!) so that I could finish up the dresses on Saturday.
On Saturday morning, before doing anything else, Erin and I ventured out to our local quilters store: The Quilters Hive. We roamed the store looking for fabric for Aunt Kristen’s new baby (blanket!), and manly fabric to begin Mike’s father’s day present – boxer shorts. Of course we did not buy a stitch of fabric for either of those projects. Instead, we purchased “baby cow” fabric for Erin. She wanted baby cow pajama pants. I could not resist … and it took no time at all to stitch up these bloomers. Just a couple of hours!
I did not start them until Saturday evening, because I first had to complete Meghan’s dress, which came out just adorable. She’s worn it for two days now. I am going to try to peel it off her for a bath tonight.
As for fabric for Mike’s father’s day present, I was thinking of going with Heather Ross’ mermaids.
But I came across these very manly, father’s day-ish fabrics at Joanns fabric (Mariner’s Cove by M’Liss Rae Hawley), so into the cart they went and the first pair came off Bernito yesterday afternoon! Three more pairs are cut and edged, ready for Bernito at my leasure this week.
Oh, did I mention I made crumb cake??
