This weekend Jaime and I have been busy trying out the new Bernina…so far we have made a sweet strawberry dress with yellow gingham trim, a cute Dora nightgown and the coasters from Last-Minute Patchwork +Quilted Gifts using some pretty Amy Butler fabric.
We also went to out favorite LYS (local yarn shop) and bought lots of yummy yarn! We bought 9 skeins of Berroco Comfort yarn in white, and started a baby blanket for our sister, who is expecting in October:
The pattern is Susan B. Anderson’s Pure and Sweet Layette Blanket pattern from Itty Bitty Nursery. The only change I am making is to add a seed-stitch border instead of the ruffle. Her patterns are so sweet and always knit up beautifully.
We also bought some Berroco Touche Yarn in Blue, Pink and Green to knit up some of her adorable Sweet Pea Hats:
And perhaps the biggest splurge was this beautiful skein of hand-painted Silk Rhapsody Yarn by Art Yarns:
I had been visiting this particular skein quite frequently at the yarn shop – it is in the most gorgeous blue-green colorway and has a wonderful softness and sheen, but the $42 price tag was a little scary. Yesterday, I decided it was finally time to bring it home with me. Now the search begins for a pattern that will do this beautiful yarn justice…
Today we will be hitting up some fabric stores in search of some fabric to make a few new tote bags, also from the Last-Minute Patchwork + Quilted Gifts book. Have a creative weekend! ~Jennifer
